In the first instance, if you are a member owned or member operated squash club, we would recommend that survey the members to determine whether or not a court booking system is desirable for your squash club. During this time, we can make a demonstration version of the website booking system available for your members to try and appreciate.
The touch screen is very easy to install. It is supplied by Redten Computers Ltd, and comes as a single unit, ready to be securely fixed onto a wall. To install the Howie touch screen, you will only need to physically attach it to the wall (it comes with security bolts) and connect it to power and an ADSL/broadband connection.
The touch screen will already be configured so that, once it is installed, HBI Consulting Ltd will remotely configure the touch screen so that it can be used with the court booking application.
If you don't already have ADSL and an ADSL router on your club premises, you will need to get these installed separately. It is essential that the ADSL router is of good quality, as this is likely to be the only source of problems. We have found the Netgear ADSL router (DG834GT) to be very reliable. Due to the nature of ADSL and Internet connections, you may loose your Internet connection from time to time, so be sure that your ADSL router has "keep-alive" capability to automatically and immediately re-connect to the Internet whenever the connection is lost.
The system can be customised to meet the requirements of most squash clubs. Customisation would usually involve changing the number of courts, the court start times, and number of days that members can book in advance, as well as changing some membership categories and deciding how the system should manage cancellations.
We will also need you to supply a complete list of all your members (Excel spreadsheet, CSV file or other database-compatible format) which we will import into the system.
Please phone HBI Consulting Ltd on 01892 530 100 to discuss your requirements in further detail.
Based on our experience with The Tunbridge Wells Squash Rackets Club, we can assure you that the transition from a paper-based booking system is very easy to do and can be done seamlessly.
We would recommend that the booking system including touch screen is running as a live "dummy" for perhaps a month before switching over. This will give all members an opportunity to try out the system before the switch over date.
HBI Consulting will provide personalised letters for all members with username, passwords and PIN numbers, and some basic instructions on how to use these details to access the court booking system. The letters will be printed so that they can be folded and fit into standard DL window envelopes.
In providing website and database hosting services to clients, HBI Consulting Ltd has established technical and organisational measures to ensure that the client’s data is securely hosted in compliance with The Data Protection Act 1998, and to ensure against unauthorised access or unlawful processing of personal data, and against accidental loss, destruction of, or damage to personal data.
Specifically in terms of this booking system, personal data is a member's contact details and court bookings. This data is only accessible to logged in users of the website and users who have physical access to the touch screen on the club premises (HBI Consulting has implemented technical measures to ensure that the data is not accessible to any others). Also, by default, all members are "ex-directory" within the system and must enable an option to "show contact details to other members", in which case their contact details are only shown to other members as a search result.
